At NEST, we see healthy soil as the foundation of resilient ecosystems and thriving rural communities. That’s why we actively promote practices that restore and protect soil quality, while enhancing the delivery of essential ecosystem services.
Our work focuses on techniques like agroforestry, crop rotation, the use of biofertilisers, and erosion control to improve soil fertility, structure, and microbial life. We also encourage carbon retention practices that help mitigate climate change and support biodiversity below and above ground.
Beyond individual practices, we take a holistic approach—recognising how soil health is linked to water regulation, food security, climate adaptation, and rural livelihoods. By working with farmers, researchers, and land managers, we aim to make soil care a central part of sustainable land use strategies, both locally and internationally.
